Job Description:

The Undergraduate Program Coordinator works independently to manage the administrative aspects of the undergraduate programs in the Department of Economics. The incumbent works directly with the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), the Vice Director of Undergraduate Studies (VDUS), the Department Chair, the Academic Department Manager (ADM), and the Registrar among other offices on campus to implement curricular directives and mandates to meet program goals. The incumbent also provides social media (Twitter, Facebook) and Department website support.

The incumbent works indirectly to provide support around Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) issues related to the undergraduate programs within the department as well as serving as the first point of contact for a large cohort of students.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 years' experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a University or in a higher education environment, preferred.
  • Ability to acquire sufficient knowledge of academic curriculum to advise undergraduates on course selection and related university policies in relation to systems oversight and configuration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate to functional users in administrative departments, faculty, a diverse student body and technical staff.
  • Customer-focused, customer service oriented.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with event planning and scheduling, preferred.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Piazza, Mindtap, Mindlink, Google Drive - sheets, docs, forms.
  • Familiarity with Desktop publishing tools such as Adobe Acrobat PDF editor and creator.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Filemaker Pro.
  • Ability to manage projects, priorities and programs in a constantly changing and fast paced environment with tight deadlines and high volume of activity. Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Flexibility to respond immediately and competently to unforeseen events.
  • Ability to listen, to communicate and to relate to others in a personal and professional manner.
  • Able to provide guidance to staff assisting with undergraduate events.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.


Additional physical demands and working conditions:

The incumbent will be expected to work and manage Commencement and may be expected to work some evenings at the start of each semester.
