Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting the company's financial health. This position requires a strong background in accounting, particularly in the agriculture industry, along with excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
  • Month-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing detailed analysis of financial data to support business decisions.
  • Cost Accounting: Monitor and analyze costs related to agricultural operations, ensuring accurate cost allocation and reporting for improved profitability.
  • Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and safeguard company assets.
  • Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support company objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role, preferably within the agriculture industry.
    • Strong experience in financial reporting, general ledger management, and cost accounting.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and agricultural accounting practices.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with ERP systems and financial software implementation.
    • Familiarity with the financial aspects of agricultural operations, including crop and livestock accounting.
