Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Business Administration Instructor to join our team at State Center Community College District. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business education and a passion for teaching and mentoring students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach business administration courses in a variety of instructional settings, including evening and weekend classes, online, and large group instruction classes as needed.
  • Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position and currency in teaching business administration.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that is responsive to the needs of our diverse student population.
  • Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate a wide range of instructional delivery systems, including innovative and creative uses of technology.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above fields and a master's degree in economic, personnel management, public administration, or a JD or LL.B. degree.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in economics with a business emphasis and a master's degree in personnel management, public administration, or a JD or LL.B. degree.
  • OR A valid California Community College credential.
  • OR The equivalent education and/or experience.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Broad-based academic preparation in business.
  • Professional competency as evidenced by successful work experience and college teaching experience in business.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and assisting students to succeed.
  • Related work and professional experience.
  • Experience in computer-assisted instruction and other instructional technologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Ability to develop new and current curriculum and focus on student learning outcomes to improve student learning.
  • Experience working with students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusions of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
  • Willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
  • Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom.
  • Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
  • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
