The Senior Staff Accountant collaborates closely with the Controller and the Director of Finance & Accounting. This position is responsible for a variety of accounting and financial transactions. This includes actively participating in month end closing activities, account reconciliations, financial statements, various account analysis, and the preparation/review of journal entries. This position will be required to perform a wide variety of accounting work and provide opportunities for outstanding experience and exposure in different business areas. This is a hands-on position and should be a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the month end close process.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems.
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational actual expenditures.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and prepare financial reports in an accurate and timely manner with oversight from the Controller.
  • Collaborate in the creation of companywide budget and forecasts with oversight from the Controller and the Director of Finance & Accounting.
  • Participate in all outside accounting firm's review/audit and tax activity.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis of financial and operating metrics to support business requirement.
  • Keep abreast of current trends and practices in the accounting field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Five years + of strong and progressive accounting and analysis experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, and Excel software
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems
  • Superior numeric skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to effectively and confidently prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service (internally and externally)

  • Experience in an architectural, engineering, or construction firm
