The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. Job SummaryTo accurately check patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining patient records and accounts. Maintain patient flow. Provide positive patient relations.Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.Responsibilities Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patientsEnsure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely mannerAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedureDraw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructionsRespond to all lab messages and call back requestsPerform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulationsEnsure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedureConduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basisPrepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for proceduresMaintain complete and accurate documentationPrepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, opening all systems applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documentsGreet patients, provide patients with initial paperwork and obtain copies of insurance and identification cardsRegister patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issuesRespond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requestsBalance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reportsComplete closing procedures by preparing closing documentation and submitting required reportsComplete cash control procedures and secure financial assetsMaintain complete and accurate documentationOther duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsAssociates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred. High School graduate or equivalent. Previous medical clerical experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office. Accuracy and detail orientation. Positive customer service skills. Well-groomed appearance. Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.
