**Position** : Director II - IT Operations

**Job Purpose** **:**

This position will be responsible for the design, build and day-to-day support of all IT infrastructure at altafiber and Hawaiian Telcom. IT infrastructure includes Desktop, Help Desk, Data Center, Network, Compute, Virtualization, Database, Storage, Backup, and Voice Phone systems. Also included in the day to day responsibilities of this position will be the management of projects related to IT Infrastructure deployment and the secure utilization of all Infrastructure resources. This position assumes responsibility for the development of new technology and integration into the current infrastructure as well as keeping legacy infrastructure in properly working order to support business operations.

**Essential Functions** **:**

+ Manage the team responsible for infrastructure support results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching and counseling; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

+ Manage our data centers, the servers and storage devices residing in the data centers and the network that connects them together and to the end user community. Ensure IT infrastructure runs properly, securely and has appropriate support.

+ Oversee IT infrastructure and data center projects in alignment with organizational goals.

+ Oversee desktop support and the helpdesk functions.

+ Work closely with corporate security to harden the secure footprint of our internal IT infrastructure and ensure it follows acceptable and approved security policies, standards, controls, and processes.

+ Forecast and manage capital and operational expense budgets.

+ Ensure appropriate use and support of technology.

+ Seek out opportunities to build systems based on new computing architectures that will improve business processes and support critical business strategies.

+ Planning and implementing of Disaster Recovery and Highly Available applications.

+ Manage relationships with external vendors.

+ Support and participate in Change Management processes.

+ Create and manage processes to meet SOX, PCI, and other Regulatory Compliances.

**Education** **:**

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

**Relevant Work Experience:**

Over 10 years in related field

**Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** **:**

+ The position requires a good working knowledge of core infrastructure technologies like hypervisors, virtualization, Active Directory, Windows and Unix operating systems, storage, backup, databases, network, voice systems, security, servers, desktops and laptops.

+ Must have experience in managing and leading IT professionals in a team environment.

+ Must have strong project management skills and experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects involving internal personnel.

+ Knowledge of cloud solutions such as Azure and AWS is a plus.

+ Knowledge of containerization technologies also is a plus.

**Supervisory Responsibility** **:**

+ This position manages a relatively large infrastructure management and support team comprised of both internal and outsourced and often offshore personnel.
