Our client, located in Sun Prairie (this role is in office) is looking for a Plant Cost Accountant.

Job Summary: The Plant Cost Accountant will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing the financial performance of the manufacturing plant. This role involves tracking and analyzing production costs, preparing detailed reports, and providing financial insights to improve operational efficiency and cost management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Prepare and maintain standard cost systems and ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify cost deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes for the plant.
  • Collaborate with plant management to understand cost drivers and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and analysis related to plant operations.
  • Provide financial support for capital projects and new product development.
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
  • Continuously improve cost accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
