Mission:

As the Director of Engineering, your mission is to navigate the development of Autonomous Mining products, leading diverse technical teams to achieve organizational objectives. Your oversight will ensure precise architecture, design, implementation, and testing to meet exacting customer timelines.

You will also craft strategic objectives for each team, leveraging your technical expertise and leadership to drive success. By promoting innovation, collaboration, and adherence to best practices, you will ensure the engineering team's excellence and the delivery of optimal product outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of Engineering Managers fostering a collaborative AGILE approach to solve problems while continuing to deliver value.
  • Guide the teams in the development of technology products, for different technical areas that include:
    • Software Applications: The Command-and-Control User Interface.
    • Hardware: Components that facilitate the automation of off-highway trucks, specifically drive-by-wire and vehicle automation kits.
    • On-board Software: Programs that operate the drive-by-wire and vehicle automation kits
    • Connected Devices: In-cab clients (ICCs) and interfaces to external control systems
    • Additional Software Solutions: Other non-vehicle software/hardware system solutions
  • Oversee and deliver the architecture, cost projection, schedule forecast, specification negotiation, resource allocation, and risk evaluation for identified new product development initiatives.
  • Resource allocation and tracking to help identify when additional projects can be initiated as well as the capabilities and limitations of available resources to execute any given program.
  • Ensure the Epiroc is maintaining its competitive edge by researching, developing, and supporting the implementation of new technologies that can improve the company's products, services, and processes.
  • Prioritize safety above all in our design processes and ensure the implementation and adherence to processes and standards that guarantee product safety.
  • Formulate and implement strategies to expedite the productization of new offerings.
  • Work with teams to break down problems into components for thorough analysis; solve problems logically and methodically.
  • Help employees reach their potential through coaching, mentoring, training, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Uphold and exemplify Epiroc's Core Values in all aspects of the work performed.
  • The position requires 25-40% travel and the ability to move around mining job sites.
Requirements:
  • An Engineering degree or a related field, with a Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Software/Hardware engineering.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience, specifically leading engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external clients, potential customers, engineers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders.
  • A commitment to uphold excellent engineering processes and best practices.
  • Proven success in launching new software products and/or electronic products with a software component to market.
  • Experience in the robotics and/or mining industry is preferred.
  • A detailed understanding of technical architecture and engineering principles.
  • Must demonstrate Ownership and Accountability
  • Must be able to create vision and translate into tangible layers for execution
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Must be able to perform in a team-oriented environment
