**Position Summary**:
Under the direction of the Administrative Director for critical care, trauma and emergency services, plans and develops Emergency Medical Services (EMS) activities including education, training and general relationship-building with EMS agencies, public safety units, and the general community to advance Mercy Health as a premier provider of emergency, stroke and trauma care. Coordinates, monitors and evaluates technical and administrative aspects of EMS activities. Acts as an ambassador between the hospital and EMS groups. Collaborates with the stroke coordinator to ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting requirements, including DNV GL Comprehensive Stroke Center designation. Coordinates and administers the Injury Prevention Program (IPP). Provides technical resources for Injury Prevention events, in collaboration with the community and various agencies.

**What the EMS and Injury Prevention Coordinator will need**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support; ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Three years of relevant experience in an Emergency Department or EMS setting. Experience creating, delivering and evaluating training and educational programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and facilitation skills. High standard in professional appearance and ability to represent the organization. Strong teaching skills. Ability to assess problems and prioritize workload. Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to travel to various EMS and community agencies across the region. Ability to address audiences for sustained period of time. Ability to transport objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to work with interruptions and changing work priorities. Ability to self-direct, working with general oversight.

**What the EMS and Injury Prevention Coordinator will do**:

- Promotes Mercy Health through partnering and relationship-building. Establishes and enhances relationships with EMS agencies, public safety units, and other hospital systems for program support and to serve as guest speakers.
- Identifies key EMS issues relevant to the Hospital, EMS agencies and schools, and the general community.
- Coordinates, promotes and delivers educational activities for EMS and public safety workers, healthcare providers, students, and the community.
- Coordinates annual EMS training on STEMI care, trauma and stroke diagnosis and treatment.
- Collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager (TPM) to determine common causes of injury and associated contributing factors.
- Collects metrics surrounding Notification and EMS, including data exchange between EMS, ED and Stroke Team to allow the incorporation of relevant pre-hospital data into evaluations of stroke center effectiveness.
