**We are looking to hire an individual as a pre-apprentice.**

Under the direction of journeyman, the Sheet Metal Pre-Apprentice responsibilities include various tasks in assisting with manual labor and the layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of sheet metal systems and related items. This is an entry level position with the potential to turn into becoming an apprenticeship.

**Job duties include, but are not limited to**:

- Assist journeymen and foremen in preparing and completing jobs
- Use various tools, such as shears, brakes, and punches, to cut, shape, and form sheet metal into desired shapes and sizes.
- Weld, solder, or rivet sheet metal parts to join them together and create a finished product.
- Perform work from ladders, mechanical lifts and confined spaces using all required safety measures
- Follow all safety rules and regulations without exception
- Read plans and specifications to install project requirements
- Measure, cut, fabricate and install sheet metal components under supervision
- Move materials and supplies using proper ergonomics
- Load and unload vehicles, stack pallets and organize inventory
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- General maintenance work.
- Hours are normally Monday-Friday 7am - 3:30 pm, but hours will fluctuate. Summer hours are closer to 7am-7/8pm Monday-Saturday. Winter hours are sometimes less than 40 per week.

**Skills and Knowledge needed**:

- Skilled in using a variety of hand and power tools, such as shears, brakes, punches, welding equipment, and measuring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Good physical stamina and strength to stand, bend, lift, and carry heavy and bulky sheet metal products and equipment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.

**Required Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- _Valid ability to weld is highly preferred. _
- Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with coworkers.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work well under pressure.
- Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated on new techniques, tools, and materials related to sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to operate machinery and equipment used in sheet metal fabrication.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Excellent attendance record including being punctual and dependable.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 60 per week
