The Division of Forensic Sciences will be filling a vacancy for Laboratory Technician 1, 2, or 3, within the DNA Analysis Unit. This position will be headquartered at the Milwaukee Crime Laboratory, located at 1578 South 11 th Street in Milwaukee, WI.
Position Summary

The DNA Casework Unit is a unit within the DNA Section of the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratories. As a position within the DNA Casework Unit, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for a broad range of laboratory duties in order to effectively support the DNA Section. The position responsibilities include tasks such as: screening DNA evidence (including complex cases), preparing reagents, maintaining laboratory equipment, performing general laboratory cleaning duties, managing supplies for the unit, maintaining records with regards to equipment and supplies, participating in quality control and assurance tasks, and operating automated liquid handling (or robotic) equipment. Strict documentation, accuracy, and precision are required. The position must be able to testify in court as an expert witness to any laboratory findings.
This position may have the opportunity to assist other units within the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratories. The duties of the position will be conducted independently under general supervision.
Salary Information

TT he Laboratory Technician 1 position is in pay schedule 06 and pay range 12. The starting pay will $21.12/hour.; The Laboratory Technician 2 position is in pay schedule 06 and pay range 13 and the starting pay will $22.86/hour.; the Laboratory Technician 3 position is in pay schedule 06 and pay range 14 and the starting pay will $24.72/hour.

**Qualifications**:

Minimally qualified applicants must have education, training and/or experience in the following: Working in a laboratory setting, following written procedures, documenting laboratory work in appropriate records, and making reagents. Quality assurance programs and quality control practices. Experience working with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel).
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will have education, training, and/or experience in at least two or more of the following: Working in a forensic laboratory or an ISO-accredited laboratory. Clean techniques used in a forensic biology laboratory. Working with confidential information and records. Familiarization with operating automated liquid handling (or robotic) systems.
