Lab Technician Material Science

Job Summary: The lab technician in Material Science performs tests and analyses on têxtiles, such as paper goods, wipes and diapers - for durability, absorption and strength. One may perform complex systems or perform highly technical mechanical or diagnostic tests in analytical laboratory. Some job functions are repetitive, up to 8 hours a day. The technician will be required to prepare samples, handling operate sensitive equipment, to analyze samples, conduct tests, and of substance and conduct tests reporting findings to a laboratory manager.

Essential Job Functions:

- Perform all duties in accordance with laboratory procedures and policies.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Able to lift 40lbs comfortably.
- Prepare and analyze samples.
- Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures.
- Organize and store all chemicals according to safety instructions.
- Legibly and accurately record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic).
- Maintain equipment.
- Create and maintain a clean environment.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in material science, biology, chemistry, or related field.
- Experience as lab technician preferred.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) per company protocol.
- Legible handwriting.
- Attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Technology/computer skills, such as using spreadsheets and databases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 software.
- Read and follow work instructions collaboration with other.
- Work well and concise in fast-paced work environment.
- Oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions
- Ear protection required up to 8 hours/day when required.
- Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the building.
- Twisting, lifting, pressing, and other repetitive movements are required.
- Adequate PPE must worn according to current policy.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
