Lab Technician Material Science

Job Summary:

The lab technician in Material Science performs tests and analyses on têxtiles, such as paper goods, wipes and diapers - for durability, absorption and strength.

One may perform complex systems or perform highly technical mechanical or diagnostic tests in analytical laboratory. Some job functions are repetitive, up to 8 hours a day.

The technician will be required to prepare samples, handling operate sensitive equipment, to analyze samples, conduct tests, and of substance and conduct tests reporting findings to a laboratory manager.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform all duties in accordance with laboratory procedures and policies.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Able to lift 40lbs comfortably.
  • Prepare and analyze samples.
  • Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures.
  • Organize and store all chemicals according to safety instructions.
  • Legibly and accurately record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic).
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Create and maintain a clean environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in material science, biology, chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience as lab technician preferred.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) per company protocol.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Technology/computer skills, such as using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 software.
  • Read and follow work instructions collaboration with other.
  • Work well and concise in fastpaced work environment.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
Working Conditions

  • Ear protection required up to 8 hours/day when required.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the building.
  • Twisting, lifting, pressing, and other repetitive movements are required.
  • Adequate PPE must worn according to current policy.

Pay:
$ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
