**The role you’ll contribute**:
The External Communications Specialist will be required to develop and maintain positive and productive relations with the media (print, broadcast, online, social and radio), consumers, businesses, related government agencies, and community leaders, organizations and the public at large. Facilitates proactive and reactive news stories about the hospital while promoting strategic service lines and initiatives. The specialist is directly responsible for the tactical execution of external communication. The specialist also provides strategic thought partnership to the manager of external communications, with insight into the unique communication needs of campuses and clients. The specialist regularly works with campus-based leadership, including the campus CEO, to proactively identify both communications needs and potential public affairs issues. Primary responsibility includes managing and elevating regular written communication and capturing, editing, producing video for use both internally and externally.

- The specialist provides strategic thought partnership with the manager of external communications, interacting directly with campus and line of business leadership to help develop and execute division-wide holistic strategic communication plans that consider internal and external audiences.
- Develop and enhance relationships with key leaders where the specialist provides public affairs counsel.
- Helps lead the planning and execution of public affairs-led external events on campus and with clients as needed.
- Actively seeks campus and client-based content for internal and external news stories through meetings with administration, physicians and front-line employees. Content is always relevant, accurate, and timely.
- Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of proactive media tools including video news releases, tip sheets, news releases, social media campaigns, and Profnet leads.
- Responsible assisting in the cultivation of a designated number of media contacts (television, print, radio and web) locally.

**Qualifications**:
**What** **You Will Need**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, English, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
- Two or more years of relevant experience in marketing, public relations, communication, information systems, or journalism with proven results
- Video experience
- Experience designing and managing website content (preferred)
- 1-3 years of health care and/or advertising experience (preferred)
- Video on
- and off-camera experience (preferred)
- Experience managing event activation (preferred)
