**Job Description Summary**:
The Lead Clinician is primarily responsible for providing mental health assessments, treatment plans and counseling intervention services to clients in support of their overall well-being and mental health. The collaboration with the Lighthouse of Houston’s support departments, as well as the mental health community to promote the Behavioral Health department is an essential component of this position.

The Lead Clinician must lead by example and constantly demonstrate the Light (LIGHT) Principles of Leadership, Integrity, Growth, Humility and Trust. It is important for individuals to be committed to a continuous learning environment and a champion for change, with a teamwork mentality.

**Mission**:
This position is aligned with the company’s mission statement to assist people who are blind or low vision to become independent members of society.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Serves as a Lighthouse of Houston brand ambassador, building strong relationships with patients, families, caregivers, and community leaders to enhance our reputation and visibility within the community.
- Advocates for the Blind/Low Vision community, as well as people with disabilities.
- Conducts intake, admission, and diagnostic assessments with clients, and document results according to the Lighthouse of Houston standards.
- Provides weekly one-to-one counseling and crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintains and ensures confidentiality of patients’ records in accordance with the HIPPA Laws and the organization policies and procedures.
- Performs independent assessments and interventions according to client’s needs.
- Collaborates with clients to create and manage treatment plans.
- Continually monitors the mental well-being of clients and arranges for appropriate services as needed.
- Provides consultation and documentation regarding clients’ functioning, mental health status, and treatment needs.
- Assesses client for potential diagnoses and treatment needs and monitor progress with treatment goals.
- Provides education to client to include mental illness, symptoms, and various interventions.
- Evaluates clients (existing, new, and prospective) based on their needs, limitations, and desires.
- Provides applicable DSM-5 diagnosis to client after assessment.
- Documents sessions in electronic health record.
- Ensures that all billing for client services needs is submitted for payment in a timely manner.
- Addresses client concerns and goals using best practices therapeutic interventions.
- Participates in department and organization meetings.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or other relevant behavioral science field in which clinical training and experience is a program requirement.
- Licensed in the State of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required.
- Licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) preferred but not required.
- Licensed to independently provide mental health diagnostic assessment and treatment.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of working with people with disabilities or blind or low vision.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to demonstrate the skills and competencies necessary to proficiently perform the assigned job duties and functions, determined through ongoing skills and training, competency assessments and performance evaluations.
- Must have passion and patience to work with people.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective good working relationships with providers, work associates and contacts related to the client needed.
- Strong cognitive skills including analysis, problem solving and decision making.
- Must be able to pass a background check for company and state.
- Maintain clinical licensure as required by the state and organization.
- Ability to achieve results and meet department and organizational goals.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and ensure all assignments are completed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite using Outlook and other Microsoft software for communicating and reporting purposes.
- Goof time management and organizational skills.
- Good conflict management skills.
- Ability to use updated technology for setting up and attending meetings.
- Knowledge of Assistive Technology aides.
