ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Director of Facilities and Real Estate is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of Shields Health facility construction, expansion, renovation, and other projects within Shields businesses. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, project management expertise, property management and a deep understanding of healthcare facility operations.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Real Estate Management: Managing all property management needs for the real estate portfolio, working with legal to execute leases, building acquisitions and sales, site selection and evaluation.
- Project Planning and Strategy: Developing and implementing a comprehensive project management strategy for facility projects, aligning them with the organization's goals and objectives. Lead the planning and execution for new construction and capital projects.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Creating and managing budgets for projects, ensuring that projects are completed within approved financial constraints.
- Team Management: Leading and guiding internal and external project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders, to ensure effective collaboration and project delivery.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all projects comply with relevant regulations, building codes, and safety standards. Understanding the regulatory requirements impact on construction and property management.
- Stakeholder Communication: Providing regular updates to senior management, board members, and other key stakeholders regarding the progress and status of ongoing projects.
- Quality Assurance: Implementing quality control measures to ensure that the projects meet or exceed industry standards and deliver optimal patient care environments.
- Technology Integration: Ensuring technology and medical equipment support the needs of the facility/project.
- Vendor and Contractor Management: Selecting and managing external vendors and contractors, ensuring their compliance with project specifications and timelines.
- Facility Operational Readiness: Collaborating with operational leaders to ensure a seamless transition from project completion to facility operation.
- Sustainability and Green Initiatives: Incorporating sustainable and environmentally friendly practices into facility projects whenever possible.

ABOUT YOU:

- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a related environment.
- Experience working with site selection, lease negotiation and construction.
- Proven leadership in the areas of facilities and real estate.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with the varied requirements of a healthcare organization as it relates to regulatory bodies.
- Experience with financial analysis, project leadership and people leadership.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to travel for long distances by car. Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Can be met with or without accommodation.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS:
This position requires extensive interaction with all Shields Health employees, joint venture partners, vendors, and local community and government agencies.
