The Instructional Designer role in ASU’s Learning Enterprise Learning Design team will design and develop revolutionary new online courses and course materials. In this role, you will leverage new design techniques and technologies to deliver ASU courses at scale to a diverse set of learners, such as learners in high school, learners seeking to earn admission to ASU and working learners looking for pathways into college and careers. This will include using modern pedagogical theory including self-paced learning, project-based learning, and adaptive elements. This role will interact with top ASU faculty and/or external industry experts, pushing the boundaries of course design and student learning. Department will be hiring for multiple positions

**Essential Duties**

**In the first year, you will**:

- ** Establish strong relationships with faculty, internal stakeholders, and external partners**:Building strong relationships with people from various teams and backgrounds is your strong suit. You will create a foundation of trust and rapport that will help stimulate innovative ideas and new ways of thinking about online education.
- ** Create processes for building and operating courses**:You are part of an exciting movement to create new processes and new ways of building courses. We encourage you to work outside of traditional boundaries and you get the opportunity to define the best ways to build courses at scale.
- ** Research and explore new tools and technologies for teaching**:You will explore new technologies and tools to build engaging and effective learning experiences.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field AND Three (3) years of providing learning/instructional design and/or technology development services. Or, any equivalent combination of experience or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Ability to design, launch, and scale courses.
- Ability to take responsibility for the course design and assist in building the course facilitation team.
- Experience designing and developing inclusive learning experiences
- Experience in following Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles is highly desirable.
- Experience in collaboration with faculty and/or industry experts, the product team, learner support staff, and learners themselves.
- Ability to work closely with a diverse team to achieve the course objectives.
- Experience in following clearly defined learning objectives mapped to course content and assessment elements.
- Experience with active learning and Project Based Learning (PBL)
- Experience with high enrollment (400+ learners) in asynchronous fully-only learning experiences.
- Experience with diverse Learning Management Systems including Canvas, Coursera, edX, Google Classroom, or others.

**Working Environment**
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
