**General Information**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Teach four courses per semester (eight per year) within the field of literacy education for JMU’s teacher preparation programs in elementary, middle, secondary, and special education.
3. Contribute to the Literacy Program by supporting Program, Department, and College of Education initiatives, attending meetings, and serving on committees.
4. Engage in professional development opportunities to maintain one’s knowledge about current perspectives and movements in literacy education, both at the state and national levels.

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in education or a related field.
- Significant and substantive professional work experience within the past five years in K-12 schools.
- Current Virginia teaching license.
- Preferred: current teaching licensure endorsement or degree as literacy or reading specialist.

**Conditions of Employment**:
