The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Grounds team to ensure the effective and efficient completion of landscape maintenance and various grounds-related tasks. This role involves managing a range of activities including solid waste removal, recycling, irrigation-related excavation work, furniture moving, and event setups. The Supervisor ensures that all tasks are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.

**This is a full-time, benefits eligible position with a hiring range of $23.41 - $24.50 an hour, contingent on experience and qualifications. **_Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under _FLSA _are eligible for overtime. _

**Minimum Requirements**:

- **Associates degree**
- _In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis _
- **3+ years of related experience in a leadership role in landscape maintenance, furniture moving, recycling, or related field which includes at least 2 years of supervisor experience**:

- Must possess (or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire) and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license with no more than three moving violations and/or at fault accidents within the past 36 months, and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past five years.

**Preferences**:

- Vocational or college education in horticulture, resource management, environmental science, etc.
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish is strongly preferred

- Chemical Application License
- TDA Certified pest control applicator
- ISA certified arborist
- PGMS certified grounds technician
- TCEQ licensed irrigator
- Experience with TRIRIGA or other work control software

**Essential Functions**:

- Supervises and leads the work of a team of grounds staff
- Evaluates performance and counsels employees as required
- Provides on the job training
- Plans and schedules project work and work orders
- Enforces all University safety and other applicable policies
- Responsible for maintaining and ordering any supplies needed
- Provides functional supervision to designated employees and affiliates
- Performs all other duties as assigned

**Working conditions**:

- Working in an outdoor environment under harsh conditions often required. Some overtime or flexibility in scheduling is necessary to meet deadlines.
- HEAVY - Exert up to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking, standing, lifting and carrying heavy objects up to eight hours per day and multi-limb coordination to operate outdoor power equipment. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to bend/crouch/or kneel, see, reach, climb, and balance.
