**Summary**:
Under the direction of the Resource Development Manager, the Grant Writer is a member of the Funds Development Team and is a liaison between the agency and foundation partners. The Grants Writer is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals/reports that support agency goals and to secure funding for the organization’s programs and initiatives. This incumbent is responsible for ensuring optimal cross-functional collaboration with internal staff to gather information, preparing budgets, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and reporting on the outcomes of funded projects.

**Primary Roles and Responsibilities**:
**Grant Planning**
- Research and identify potential funding sources, including government agencies, foundations and corporations.
- Collaborates with ASF leadership and program staff to develop a strong understanding of ASF’s history, programs, impact, and financial needs to be able to develop clear and compelling proposals and reports

**Grant Coordination**
- Writes compelling proposals and communications that align with ASF’s priorities, engaging with philanthropists, foundations, corporations, and government entities to secure funding to support the organization’s mission
- Manage the entire RFP response process, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to guidelines
- Initiates and develops relationships with potential new funding sources and attends meetings when appropriate
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to grants ensuring information is organized and easily accessible
- Attends grant writing, fundraising, and donor database webinars/workshops
- Communicate effectively with grantors and stakeholders regarding grant progress and impact.

**Grant Research**
- Research new and current funding sources to identify pipelines for growth, with specific focus on moving donors from mid-level to major gifts
- Conduct deep background research on potential major donors, assess philanthropic interests, giving capacity, propensity and readiness to help develop portfolios of qualified leads
- Work with fundraisers to create recommendations on gift capacity and likelihood ratings for prospects and prospects for planned giving
- Produce specialized research targeted to prospect portfolios and identify funding projects
- Provide relationship mapping support to create pathways for contacting prospects
- Identify optimal portfolio research tools for organizational teams and assist in relationship mapping for the Corporate and Foundation teams
- Monitor trends and have an awareness of grant opportunities
- Keep abreast of and communicate best practices in research, data integrity, and other pertinent information related to job duties
- Make note of action items in order to facilitate next steps on varying projects.

**Grant Reporting**
- Ensures strict adherence to grant compliance requirements, including reporting obligations and any specific conditions outlined by funders
- Assembling all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.; submit reports to funders
- Assist with preparation and submission of regular reports to grantors on fund utilization, project progress and outcomes achieved
- Stay updated on grant reporting best practices and funder expectations
- Participate in audits and evaluations related to grant-funded projects.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in prospect research or similar work for the non-profit sector
- Knowledge of the greater philanthropic landscape, including individual, foundations, and corporate giving
- Experience with subscription research tools to conduct detailed background research on individuals, businesses, and organizations
- Experience with creating donor databases and prospect management systems
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and writing skills
- Ability to analyze and synthesize large quantities of data and effectively communicate key information to development team
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and skill sets, and adapt to a growing and changing development environment
- Superior organizational skills
- Intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness in pursuing knowledge.
- Proven ability to responsibly handle confidential and sensitive information and abide by ethics standards and privacy policies
- Demonstrated ability to independently coordinate production of projects accurately and on deadline
- Proven ability to work collegially and collaboratively and to work effectively under deadline
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities

Pay: $52,000.00 - $68,640.00 per year
