Teacher Assistants, as part of the classroom's teaching team, help ensure that each child's developmental needs are met.

Programmatic Responsibilities:

- Assist in maintaining a stimulating and nurturing classroom environment.
- Lead classroom activities as requested.
- Help to organize and maintain classroom order, equipment and materials.
- Help complete goals of annual classroom Action Plan.
- Develop warm nurturing relationship with all children.
- Monitor children throughout the day maintaining their safety.
- Assist in food preparation and clean up.
- Assist in child assessment activities and planning for individual children.
- Assist in the implementation of licensing and accreditation requirements.
- Develop/complete annual Professional Development Plan
- All other assigned tasks

Family Communication Responsibilities:

- Maintain an open and supportive communication with families.
- Refer concerns expressed by parents to the Lead Teacher or Teacher.
- Support family involvement in the Center's activities.
- Participate in family events at the Center.
- All other activities as assigned by Center Director of Lead Teacher.

Qualifications:

- Demonstrated ability to successfully complete all job description responsibilities.
- Warm and nurturing personality.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
- Commitment to agency's mission of supporting low-income families and at risk children.
- High School Diploma
- Must be at least 18 years of age

All Teacher Assistants are required to take 4 Early Childhood Education college courses within the first 18 months of employment. South Shore Stars will pay for the courses and the texts needed.

Reports to: Lead Teacher

Salary Range: $20.15 - $24.66, depending on your years of experience

- All South Shore Stars employees should be able to lift at least 40 lbs and work in a non-sedentary environment.
