**Summary**:

The Executive Director is responsible for the leadership and management of all daily organizational operations driving the mission and values to market the Stevens Point Area as a destination ensuring maximum economic impact to the region. The ultimate authority of SPACVB operations including but not limited to strategic leadership, strategic planning, marketing & development, financial planning & monitoring, and human resources in full accordance with the board’s directives and the SPACVB articles of incorporation and bylaws in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities **include but are not limited to the following:
**Organizational Leadership and Administration-30%**
- Understand the mission of the SPACVB and contribute to its overall success.
- Ensure that the SPACVB is effective in all it does, and a source of pride to its board, staff, partners, and funders.
- Provide support and leadership to the SPACVB Board of Directors, giving board members the tools and information they need to make strategic decisions for the organization.
- Direct the daily operations of the SPACVB. Clearly communicate priorities to obtain understanding and acceptance of, and commitment to, objectives from subordinates, stakeholders, and the board of directors.
- Facilitate effective solutions to problems that arise. Encourage improvement in systems and structures. Cope with change within the organization, within the community, and the tourism industry. Demonstrate decisiveness, consistency, dependability, and perseverance.
- Work closely with staff to develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing plan aimed at maximizing room nights and visitor spending in the area.
- Ensure all elements of the organization are on brand; this includes but is not limited to internal culture and external organizational reputation as well as advertising, events, and PR communications.
- Establish, for approval by the Board of Directors, a long-range strategy that achieves the mission and elevates the community by improving destination visibility and opening new markets for tourism.
- Create, improve, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the organization.
- Function as the bureau’s chief spokesperson to various media and at tradeshows, meetings, political functions, and other events by developing and maintaining the positive and professional reputation of the Stevens Point Area.
- Continually analyze the organization and make tactical recommendations on the impact of long-range growth initiatives, planning, and introduction of new strategies and regulatory actions with the changing marketplace of the destination.
- Reports on the condition, productivity, and performance of the SPACVB in a timely fashion and develops strategic meeting agendas to verify the Board and Executive Committee can fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
- Maintain knowledge of the destination, top visitor markets, and our regional competitors while building relationships with the internal team and external key stakeholders.
- Uphold active positive involvement in local, state, national, and international tourism and hospitality-related industry associations.
- Maintain knowledge of current innovations in the field and lead positive change in the organization based on new industry trends.

**Advocacy-20%**
- Serve as the chief tourism advocate for the Stevens Point Area leading the growth and development of the destination to enhance tourism as an economic engine.
- Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders including elected and municipal officials, hoteliers, tourism industry partners, and others.
- Keep current knowledge of local, statewide, and national issues that may affect the SPACVB.
- Monitor proposed legislation that will affect the tourism industry, the Stevens Point Area and the SPACVB. Be proactive in efforts to pass such legislation, or to keep it from passing.
- Build relationships with appropriate individuals and organizations in the Stevens Point Area and statewide and use those relationships to further the work of the SPACVB.

**Fiscal Oversight-25%**
- Manage the organization’s finances by monitoring, regulating, and assuring all financial transactions are conducted within the established Financial Policies and Procedures in coordination with the board approved budget.
- Monitor and protect the use of room tax revenue as the primary funding source for the SPACVB.
- Ensure strong fiscal management and the best use of financial resources.
- Exercise economy and restraint in utilizing available resources.
- With the assistance of staff, prepare an operating budget for approval by the Board of Director
