**Title of Position**: Director of Human Resources **Directly Responsible to**: Executive Director***

**Status**:Exempt

**Primary Function**: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.

**Compliance**
- Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Oversee all labor and employment compliance issues, including teacher credentialing related to ESSA, working with outside legal counsel as necessary.
- Annually update all job descriptions so that they remain relevant to current roles and responsibilities.
- Facilitate annual review of the personnel handbook.
- Coordinate required employee trainings (CPR, sexual harassment, child abuse reporting, other).
- Support payroll process (set up & maintenance of timecard system, coordinate staff trainings, coordinate: annual payroll records review, payday procedures, verification and distribution of W-2s, keep organized records for payroll archives, etc.)

**Employee Relations & Benefits Administration**
- Manage health and welfare program: Annually evaluate benefits package and make recommendations to Executive Director regarding package additions/changes that will attract and retain top talent while meeting our budgetary constraints/requirements
- Provide day-to-day support for employees with inquiries regarding benefits, pay, and employment questions.
- Administer all leaves of absence, including FMLA, maternity, disability, and unpaid leave.
- Manage
- Work with supervisors/managers to develop & implement improvement plans as needed for specific employees.
- Serve as a thought partner to School Leaders in developing a robust, network-wide teacher performance management/employee evaluation/professional development system.
- Research & provide professional development opportunities for employees.

**Recruitment, On-boarding, Transitions**
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Lead and manage all aspects of the employment life cycle including: recruitment, selection, hiring/on-boarding, performance management/professional development, renewals, labor law compliance, and exits.
- Create and Manage Talent Pipeline.
- Oversee teacher recruitment process so that Larchmont Schools has the talent needed to achieve its mission.
- Manage site campus recruitment process to ensure that essential site-level positions are staffed with outstanding talent and are aligned with organizational values.
- Collaborate with School Leaders and manage on-boarding process to ensure that school sites have robust and thoughtful on-boarding plans for new staff (Institute opportunities; one off for new hires).
- Oversee and optimize job offer process.
- Manage terminations and exits with support from School Leaders.

**Risk Management**
- Oversee Risk Management program.
- Lead Safety Committee (network safety plan publication & renewal, updates to Board, partner with safety auditor to improve incident prevention, collaborate with Assistant Principals on staff trainings).
- Report all incidents/claims and work with TPAs and school site staff to support individuals involved in incidents.
- Facilitate the JPA contract renewal annually.
- Serve as liaison to JPA, Community Risk Solutions and Worker’s Comp lawyers
- Coordinate annual staff training on safety procedures.
