**ACCOUNTANT I**

The Accountant I performs various accounting functions within the Palco, including those related to bookkeeping, program operations, reporting, and payroll taxes.

**Essential Functions**:

- Recording transactions in general ledger
- Managing company credit card and analyzing employee expenditures
- Posting Accounts Receivable
- Following up with the Billing Department on outstanding A/R
- Reconciling bank statements via Excel or accounting software
- Performing basic bookkeeping duties
- Posts payroll to the general ledger
- Ensures that payroll taxes are paid timely and accurately
- Preparing financial reports
- Making purchases for office equipment and supplies

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced knowledge and experience with spreadsheets.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good organizational skills.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting competencies.
- Proficiency in MS Office and competency in computer software (e.g. SAP).
- NetSuite experience a plus.

**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Experience working in all areas of accounting.
- Experience with Accounting software and data entry.
