Position Title: Language Arts Teacher

School of Vacancy: Newtown Middle School (Grade 7th or 8th)

Starting Date: 2024-2025 School Year

Salary Range: Per teacher contract

Responsibilities: The teacher will provide language arts instruction to middle school students as
a member of a six person team and will perform other classroom
teaching duty assignments consistent with the requirements of the
position.- Current Language Arts/English Connecticut Certification
- (endorsements 006, 015, or 215);- Interest in working in a high-performing district in a middle school
- environment and commitment to promoting a positive culture;- Ability to work with others in attaining team objectives and

accomplishing interdisciplinary objectives for students, including
technology integration;
- Evidence of thorough understanding of unique needs of adolescents

and how their characteristics impact curriculum and instruction;
- Evidence of expertise in working with children in a heterogeneous

classroom setting and ability to differentiate instruction;
- Familiarity of and/or experience in teaching language arts and

understanding of best practices in language arts;
- Familiarity and/or experience in utilizing small group instruction to

support a wide-range of learners;
- Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive

learning environment;
- Willingness to participate in collaborative lesson planning;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
- Knowledge of effective MTSS practices.
