- Western Burrowing Owl survey certification-
- Migratory Bird Treaty Act bird/nest survey training-
- Other wildlife species survey training and/or certification-
- Wetlands/Waters of the United States jurisdictional delineation training-
- Knowledge of road construction methods, transportation terminology, reading/interpreting roadway plans- Ability to use a handheld GPS unit- Effective communication, verbal, and writing skills- Public sector experience

Job Contributions- Conduct natural resources/environmental analyses; identify issues; prepare/write technical reports; implement solutions to ensure compliance with statutes, rules, regulations, and policies governing environmental (National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Section 404 Clean Water Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Native Plant Law, Natural Resources, etc.) matters- Provide technical expertise and project support to MCDOT staff, project engineers, and others regarding environmental and natural resources compliance and regulations- Perform natural resources field surveys (i.e., migratory bird nest surveys, western burrowing owl surveys, native plant inventories, etc.) and other environmental surveys/investigations using sound scientific methods- Coordinate agency interests with outside agencies (formal and informal consultations) and provide information to the public and interested parties to help the organization get authorization for construction- Provide technical review of reports- Develop mitigation measures and coordinate timing, precision, accuracy, and execution of project-specific environmental activities- Stay up to date with current technical and non-technical environmental information/rules/regulations; represent MCDOT on committees and planning groups- Develop project scopes and budgets; manage projects; manage consultant work and contracts- Other job duties as assigned
