Job Summary

The Remote Operations Manager (ROC) is an onsite position located near the NASA center in Houston, TX.

The ROC Manager will be responsible for directing all ROC control room operators and other technicians at the ROC. The ROC Manager assures that the ROC is operated in compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory permits and regulations. The ROC Manager assures that a fully trained and qualified staff is maintained and supplied with adequate tools and equipment to provide for the safe and efficient operation of the ROC.

The ROC Manager encounters new and varied, complex, work situations. With only general direction and within the confines of IPSC and Client policy, the ROC manager determines own practices and procedures to perform the duties. The ROC Manager will perform the duties while staying in compliance with contractual agreements. These practices and procedures must be approved by the IPSC VP of Remote Operations, IPSC Director of Operations or IPSC Operations Project Manager and the Client’s Representative.

The ROC Manager is accountable and expected to participate in the ROC's long-range planning. The ROC Manager must effectively communicate information, relative to the overall operations of the ROC, to the Clients, IPSC Senior Management team, remotely operated plant managers and technicians. The ROC Manager must perform duties, and ensure the ROC team is performing duties, in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times and in compliance with the applicable NERC Standards. The ROC Manager must perform duties, and ensure all plant personnel are performing duties, in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.

All employees have the responsibility to both the Client and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the Client's needs are being met safely and within compliance.

Job Functions

**Responsibilities include**:

- Responsible for ensuring that ROC personnel and ROC objectives are in alignment with Clients’ requirements.
- Responsible for the administration and compliance of safety programs, environmental programs, NERC programs and other programs.
- Responsible for the for the safe, efficient and reliable operation and maintenance of the ROC.
- Implement training and qualification programs to assure that ROC personnel are fully qualified to operate and maintain the ROC.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with ROC procedures by all ROC personnel.
- Conduct periodic reviews of ROC policies and procedures to assure that they reflect current operating requirements and in compliance with contractual agreements.
- Direct the sourcing, screening and hiring of new or replacement personnel as needed.
- Verify that the certification status of ROC personnel is current.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to ROC personnel and ensure that the morale and motivation of ROC personnel is maintained at a high level at all times.
- Develop a succession plan for key positions.
- Oversee the preparation of required client reports, as requested or contractually obligated.
- The ROC Manager is the single point of contact between IPSC and the Clients on all matters pertaining to the operation of the ROC.

- Travel as required to visit remotely operated sites and/or periodic meetings at headquarters.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering/renewable energy or equivalent preferred.
- 10+ years of power plant or similar experience required.
- At least 3 years of experience supervising personnel.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
- Preferred 3-5 years in Gas Turbine experience, renewable energy experience (solar, wind, battery energy storage, hydro, etc.) or as a Power Plant Manager in another generation source.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
- Must have excellent verbal communications skills and possess basic math skills.
- Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts and have the ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
- Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
- Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
