**Position Overview**:
Responsible for supporting the Privacy Officer with performing privacy-related operational functions in the assigned Sutter Health affiliate(s), including activities related to the confidentiality, access, use, and disclosure of protected health information and other confidential information. Provides a wide range of support to the Privacy Officer, including assisting with developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing the privacy program in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations and Sutter Health's privacy and security policies. Conducts investigations, workforce trainings, physical audits, facility roundings, and other duties as assigned. Investigates and maintains documentation of privacy incidents and ensure timely reporting to patients and government entities as required by law.
**EDUCATION**:
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma._
Bachelor's: Computer Science, Information Security, Business, Management, STEM, or related field or equivalent education/experience
**CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE**
CISA-Certified Information Systems Auditor
CISSP-Certified Information Systems Security Professional within 1 Year of hire
**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN**:
8 years experience in a healthcare role with an emphasis on the implementation of a privacy program in a patient care environment
8 years experience conducting efficient and regular training, investigations, risk assessments, and auditing and monitoring activities
8 years experience identifying privacy requirements specific to healthcare environments.
8 years experience demonstrating leadership across large organizations with the ability to build relationships and establish credibility.
8 years experience implementing HIPAA privacy regulations and applicable state and federal regulations.
**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**
In-depth working knowledge of current HIPAA privacy regulations and other pertinent and applicable state and federal regulations related to PHI.
Knowledge of healthcare clinical operations, hospital revenue cycle systems, hospital billing & coding, and healthcare compliance issues/ requirements.
General knowledge and experience in organizational consensus building.
Knowledge of healthcare business acumen with background in strategies and methodologies used to protect electronic health/medical records.
Thorough understanding of clinical data integrations and aggregation.
Demonstrated ability to assist with managing a privacy program in an integrated healthcare delivery system.
Proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic multi-facility environment to affect change.
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and issues from a variety of perspectives to understand the legal, clinical, and human resource impact of decisions.
Project management skills, including the ability to initiate, plan, execute, and control activities to meet requirements and timelines of regional and system-wide initiatives or projects that are frequently driven by new or changing regulations.
Demonstrated ability to present ideas and concepts effectively to management, physicians, and employees.
Proven ability to influence and change non-compliant behavior without direct line of authority.
Demonstrated ability to visualize, and to explain in lay terms, how to convert exceedingly large quantities of data into meaningful and useful information for patients, staff, clinicians and physicians.
Established managerial and organization skills required to create effective plans and strategies with the proven ability to articulate the value of these plans/strategies, assemble consensus across all levels of the organization, and lead others through change.
Established background of leadership, team building, and mentoring.
Written/verbal interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a broad and diverse group of patients, staff, and internal/external stakeholders.
