**Summary**:
This position is responsible for revenue growth through increased market share and sales of Valin’s Automation products and services.

In addition to selling existing products and services, a key element of the role is uncovering current challenges and facilitating solution development. Successful BDMs form strong relationships with key customer personnel and effectively leverage both internal and external resources for product and customer service support, allowing them to maximize time spent generating revenue producing opportunities.

The BDM is responsible for embracing marketing initiatives and driving the company’s message within the assigned accounts. Maintaining an up-to-date CRM with current contacts and opportunities is mandatory.

**Responsibilities**:

- Meet or exceed established sales and gross margin goals.
- Understand the composition of Valin’s Automation product offering.
- Establish, develop, and maintain multiple customer relationships to gain a wide base of support within each account.
- Allocate majority of selling time to develop new business while maintaining existing business.
- Use CRM to document and internally communicate all customer contact and sales activities.
- Work closely with operations & customer service to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Work closely with strategic suppliers to ensure that both Valin and customer needs are satisfied.
- Support a positive, enthusiastic team-oriented approach to sales.
- Understand market dynamics and keep abreast of current economic developments.
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism and high ethical standards.

**Qualifications**:
**Education, Experience and Skills Required**:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred; however, five years of sales, sales engineering, or sales management in the Automation industry is also acceptable.
- Excellent organizational skills, efficient and detail oriented.
- Self-motivated and can deliver results with mínimal supervision.
- Able to effectively communicate with a variety of personality types.
- Analytical, perceptive, and empathetic.
- Logical problem-solving capability.
- Able to take criticism well, coachable; follows directions and meets deadlines.
- Team player - able to quarterback sales team effort.
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, and non-verbal) with good follow-up skills.
- Goal oriented. Successful record of accomplishment in previous employment or assignments.
- Delegates effectively to maximize time for personal customer contact.
- Experience with electromechanical systems.
- Good driving record.

**Physical Capabilities and Requirements**:
Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some movement from area to area, lifting (30 lbs or less) and transporting of items such as a laptop computer, small products or parts, or demo units. Position requires long periods of sitting while driving or riding as a passenger in an automobile or airplane. It also requires long periods in semi fab clean rooms. Must be able to move through customer sites, including offices, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities. Ability to effectively communicate using company-issued devices such as laptop, mobile phone, etc.

**Work Environment**:
While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to various outdoor and indoor environments, including temperature variances, humidity, dust, noise, etc. Overnight travel is required. Attending regular meetings, training and making sales calls via automobile or airplane is required. Work outside normal business hours is required.
