SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and implement strategies to strengthen and improve early childhood teaching skill sets and classroom environments by providing professional development, technical assistance, coaching, identified classroom assessments with improvement plans, and overall support to early childhood educators. Provide technical assistance and support to owners and directors in contracted child care provider sites.

Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Programs, and the Florida Office of Early Learning, and is reviewed through meetings and performance evaluations. This is a position of special trust and responsibility.
- Assist in the development, training and implementation of quality initiatives designed to increase best practices in early education classrooms.
- Provide technical assistance, training and ongoing support to early childhood educators to maximize the implementation of age-appropriate learning activities and the creative use of age-appropriate materials, and implementation of effective teaching strategies to maximize teacher-child interactions.
- Provide training opportunities for early childhood educators to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Support and assist early childhood educators in identifying specific needs of children, provide classroom support and/or referral to community agency, if necessary.
- Work with providers to identify key needs, areas of concern, action plans and goals to improve operations and services provided to children and families.
- Develop positive relationships in the provider setting.
- Support high quality classroom instruction and adult-child interaction through modeling, co-planning and providing feedback to early childhood educators.
- Reliably conduct program monitoring and non-compliance follow-up, of assigned providers, in accordance with Coalition procedures.
- Reliably administer quality classroom assessments, analyze data, provide coaching and technical assistance to provider based on results and in accordance with state guidance and procedures.
- Attend ongoing professional development, as funding permits, to enhance skills necessary to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Obtain expertise and certification on identified assessment tools to evaluate child outcomes, program quality and/or provider processes.
- Assist with planning and implementation of special events, as requested.
- To perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned.
- Travel throughout St. Lucie County is required in this role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- High level of knowledge of current child development and early childhood education, research and practices.
- Ability to work independently, and in a team, establish priorities and manage deadlines, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills with the ability to complete assigned tasks according to program deadlines and adapt to changing work priorities.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with providers, ELC team members, community partners and stakeholders. Fosters transparency and openness in all relationships.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills while interacting with providers, ELC team members, community partners and stakeholders who come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with adult learners, especially in the areas of training and motivational strategies.
- Ability to identify issues, collect data, establish facts and make recommendations for a resolution.

Bachelor Degree in early childhood education preferred, an Associate’s degree in early childhood education accepted and a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Must pass the required drug and criminal background screenings. Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and current liability insurance policy.

**PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/WORKING CONDITIONS**:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is also required to sit at a desk and use acomputer.The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
