The **Department of Health and Human Services** is responsible for delivery of the County’s public health and human services that the needs of our community’s most vulnerable children, adults and seniors. The Department provides services through more than 120 programs at more than 20 locations. With 2,000 employees, the **Department of Health and Human Services** is the largest County Department.

**About the Position**:
This position resides in Aging and Disability Services and will provide professional staff support to the County’s new Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Commission (IDDC) created by County Legislation 10-23 and guide the Commission with all related activities as required by the Commission’s Charter. This position will concentrate on working with County, State, and Federal government agencies on behalf of the IDDC.

The duties and responsibilities of the position will include:

- Provide County policy support to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Director and DHHS, Aging and Disability (A&D) Services Chief to advocate for the needs of the estimated 75,000 people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who reside in the County.
- Provide ongoing member orientation and ensure the new Commissioners have completed mandated orientation and trainings. Maintain Membership Lists (including term beginning and end dates and position types) and Attendance Records.
- Provide administrative support to the Commission in their completion of meeting agendas and minutes.. Maintain an up-to-date website for the Commission. Transmit Meeting Materials to Members and process member reimbursement forms.
- Facilitate monthly commission meetings; prepare periodic and annual reports; develop the Commission’s testimonies; oversee member financial disclosure compliance; control/order any Material with County Logo and reserve County meeting space.
- Ensure Compliance with County Ethics Law, other County Practices and Procedures and other Departments with Oversight (e.g., ADA, Office of Intergovernmental Relations, Public Information Office), and with State Open Meetings Act (e.g., ensuring that minutes are completed, providing calendar of board meetings to the County Executive staff).
- Advise County Executive Staff of Commission Member change of address, employment and send minutes to County Executive Staff and Public Information Office.
- Stay abreast of issues that impact the IDD community (at the Federal, State, and local level) and advise the Chief and Commission as necessary.
- Develop policy, direction and staff support for the activities of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Commission that advise the County government on programs and services impacting this population.
- Ensure community engagement.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

**This is a part-time position.** **The anticipated salary range for this position is**: $38,814.50 - $50,551.50 at 50%-time**

- Experience leading government boards, committee, and/or commissions
