The SBM Program Specialist supports the vision for SBM to become a world-class provider of Christian business education by managing the academic advising and support function for all SBM programs at all locations. recruitment through the alumni lifecycle of the academic experience within the SBM.

This is an in-person position with general hours of Monday-Friday 8 am - 5:00 pm (Fridays the office closes at 4:30 pm). The schedule will be modified monthly for Same Day Admissions Events, One Day Admissions Events, and any SBM special events (these events are held on evenings and Saturdays monthly and hours will be adjusted to accommodate the need).

**Required Education**
- B.A. degree required.
- Master's degree a plus.

**Required Experience**
- One to three years of academic advising, coordinating, or related experience.
- Front-line supervisory experience for customer-facing employees.
- Experience managing a department or functional area, including developing and implementing performance improvement systems.
- Familiarity with SBM academic programs a plus.

**Primary Duties/Essential Functions**
- Program Coordination_
- Oversight of the student success function within SBM, providing advisement to all SBM students at all locations including Azusa, regional campuses, and online.
- In collaboration with faculty, provide one-on-one academic advisement for SBM undergraduate majors, undergraduate minors, graduate students, and professional students within your assigned degree and program portfolio.
- Serve as a backup Advisor to other SBM programs as necessary.
- Liaise with university departments such as the Graduate and Professional Center, Student Success Center, the Registrar(s), and Academic Success Center to provide service to students, submit schedules, schedule changes, petitions, and more.
- Advise incoming students at summer and winter undergraduate university-sponsored orientation events;
- Primary responsibility for the academic advising of incoming freshmen, transfers, and walk-in students.
- Event planning for group advising sessions.
- Planning and participation for SBM-specific new student orientation events (both UG, Grad, and Professional).
- Assist in building graduate and undergraduate fall, spring, and summer course offerings.
- Gather information; create reports and statistical information on the state of the department as needed;
- Attend Same Day Admissions Events for Graduate and Professional program (monthly).
- Assess student academic standing at session end to communicate good standing, probation, or dismissals;
- Connects with and develops relationships with all students to provide program information, provide course suggestions, assist with enrollment, and review graduation requirements. academic policies and procedures, and campus resources.
- In concert with faculty, assists students with identification of long term goals and career aspirations.
- Works to position students to meet requirements for graduation within appropriate periods of time while preparing them to meet future goals.
- Advises special populations within scope of responsibility, such as international and military/veteran students, assisting in exploration of academic programs and focusing on academic direction, procedures, policies, and available resources.
- Stays updated on course offerings and understands the demand of SBM students.
- Connects with all prospective graduate students to provide any information about their program.
- Maintain advising records and confidential student evaluation records.
- Coordinate with course scheduling partners to ensure students are aware of course schedule changes.
- Create and manage Course Plans for students to follow throughout their program..
- Classroom Visits.
- Create a schedule for visits.
- Send out calendar invitations to professors.
- Inform students about Grad Programs and the benefits of taking grad courses as an undergraduate student.
- Enrollment and Retention Management_
- Work with Enrollment Management personnel in an advising capacity for prospective students; Manage the handoff for new students to ensure a smooth onboarding process, including event planning for new student orientations;
- SBM Transfer Specialist: Evaluate transcripts and determine course equivalents. Advise transfer students on requirements for degree completion.
- Manage department permission codes.
- Administrative Management_
- Manage all SBM Administrative Role Accounts including petitions, graduation clearances, probations, permission codes, and more.
