Position Summary

Columbia Center for Community Health is home to Columbia’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Institute called ‘InTOuCH.’ This program recruits trusted members of churches from West and Central Harlem to complete an 8-week, certified CHW training curriculum. Selected CHWs will participate in the Community Health Workers United to Reduce Colorectal and Cardiovascular Disease among people at Higher Risk (CHURCH Trial), an NIH-funded study

**Responsibilities**:
The Project Coordinator will understand the sociocultural factors contributing to health disparities, specifically focusing on African American faith-based communities. The Project Coordinator will develop and maintain relationships by conducting outreach to community faith leaders at community meetings in under-represented communities. They will assist with participant recruitment and prepare participant records. The project coordinator will manage and coordinate aspects of research as well as assist with participant payment, data analysis, manuscript preparation, completion of interviews, and IRB submissions. They will oversee recruitment, weekly management, and supervision of RA and the CHW outreach team conducting colorectal cancer, lifestyle, and dietary screenings.

**Responsibilities included but not limited to**:

- Assist with day-to-day activities of the colorectal cancer (CRC) screening study, including supporting with CHW and research assistant (RA) recruitment/onboarding, scheduling and facilitating training sessions, managing program implementation, and monitoring and tracking program deliverables
- Partner with faith-based communities, community-based organizations and the InTOuCH community health workers (CHW) to assist implementation of the churchbased CRC screening study
- Attend and oversee participant recruitment events within the community or church partner sites
- Organizes and facilitates orientation sessions and meetings with church leadership and CHWs
- Coordinate with CHW and RA teams to track and monitor recruitment of new and progress of current study participants
- Leads and facilitates regular CRC workshops and trainings to the public in faith and community-based settings
- Conducts focus groups interviews with church leadership, CHW alumni and study participants
- Manage participant and staff (CHW & RA) payment, data entry and analysis, and manuscript preparation
- Support the Project Director with study IRB (i.e. submit modifications as needed and process revisions and annual continuation process for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions)
- Support the Project Director in creating and submitting annual study progress reports
- Assists with day to day operations for Program Director, and Principal Investigator (PI) including meeting logistics, correspondence and budget for the InTOuCH program
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience

Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience.
- Masters level degree in public health, social work, counseling, sociology, or a related field.
- Clinical, research, and/or personal experience working colorectal cancer
- Familiar with Institutional Review board protocols, databases, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Atlas or similar Qualitative Data Analysis Program
- Strong writing and communication skills and experience conducting literature reviews
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple diverse projects
- Flexibility in hours (i.e., will work some evenings and at least 1 Saturday / month)
- Experience developing, distributing, and evaluating on-line surveys with software (e.g., Qualtrics)
