Summer Ground and Landscaping Assistant

SUMMARY: Summer Ground and Landscape Assistant works in the Facilities Department during the summer months performing various duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assists with maintaining the cleanliness and landscaping of School grounds, which includes prairies, wetlands, and forests.
- Performs lawn maintenance including mowing, and string trimming.
- Trim trees.
- Weeds, rakes, plants, and performs general landscaping.
- Mulches, weeds, aerates, and trims and edges around flower beds, pathways and trails.
- Ensures maintenance tools are kept in proper working condition, which includes cleaning and refueling.
- Cleans debris on hard surfaces and lawns.
- Moves furniture, equipment and supplies.
- Conducts various indoor cleaning assignments.
- Assists Facilities Technicians with projects and maintenance.
- Assists with indoor and outdoor event setup.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Incorporates American Indian culture, language, traditions and the Seven Sacred Gifts into daily work.
- Actively participates in learning about American Indian culture, language, traditions, and the Seven Sacred Gifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years old.

High school diploma or GED.

One year of previous cleaning and grounds keeping experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Able to communicate clearly, understand and follow instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed both in an indoor, climate controlled environment and outdoors. Noise levels may reach high volumes at times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE:
Seasonal Full-time positions: M-F 7:00am - 3:30pm

Work schedules and start dates may be adjusted with the Director’s approval if needed.

Regular attendance is essential to succeed in this role.

Ability to commute/relocate:
Franklin, WI 53132: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work(required)

**Experience**:
Landscape maintenance: 1 year (preferred)

License/Certification:
Driver's License (preferred)
