**General Description of the Position**:
Delaware State University is hiring an individual interested in higher education fundraising to participate in a year-long job training and professional development program. The program participant will hold the title of Planned Giving Fellow and will be a full-time employee of Delaware State University for one year responsible for performing the essential functions listed below. A salary and benefits will be provided during the duration of the program. In addition, the Planned Giving Fellow will attend the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Graduate Trainee Program, which connects participants across the nation and provides a full year of online education, mentorship, conversations with advancement leaders, and in-person conference experiences.

The Planned Giving Fellow plays an integral role in advancing Delaware State University’s efforts to expand its planned giving program, which encompasses major gifts that are made as part of a donor’s overall financial and/or estate planning and include such giving vehicles as securities, life insurance, retirement plans, donor advised funds, charitable gift annuities and bequests. Reporting to the Director of Development, this position assists the University’s Institutional Advancement Division in implementing and advancing data processing, records management, marketing, programming and stewardship activities for its planned giving program.

- Record planned gift information in Raiser’s Edge and other platforms according to policies and procedures, ensuring data accuracy, consistency and comprehensiveness.
- Assist in implementing planned giving marketing efforts, including the creation and dissemination of a quarterly newsletter and the development of other promotional print and digital materials for alumni and friends.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of information sessions on planned giving and donor
appreciation events.
- Perform research and data analysis to identify and qualify planned giving prospects and assist in the cultivation and stewardship of planned giving donors.
- Prepare planned gift agreements, acknowledgment letters and reports.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of communications to planned giving donors, including the compilation and dissemination of scholarship award reports.
- Support and contribute to the creation and implementation of planned gift protocols and processes.
- Engage in CASE in-person and online professional development trainings as well as mentorship and networking opportunities.
- Complete special projects and other duties as requested.

- Bachelor's degree.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, and to access public and staff areas of the campus.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
- Must have valid driver's license and be willing to travel to the Midwest in July 2024 and at another time during the year for in-person training. Travel to other locations within Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic may also be required. All required travel will be paid for by Delaware State University.
