The selected candidate will assume the role of Planned Giving Fellow, serving as a full-time employee responsible for key functions that contribute to the advancement of the university's planned giving initiatives. Role and Responsibilities:

The Planned Giving Fellow will play a vital role in enhancing Delaware State University's planned giving program, which includes significant contributions made as part of a donor's financial and estate planning. This encompasses various giving options such as securities, life insurance, retirement plans, donor advised funds, charitable gift annuities, and bequests. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the fellow will assist in the following areas:
  • Maintain accurate records of planned gift information in relevant databases, ensuring data integrity and thoroughness.
  • Support the execution of planned giving marketing strategies, including the production of a quarterly newsletter and other promotional materials for alumni and supporters.
  • Assist in organizing informational sessions on planned giving and donor appreciation events.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to identify potential planned giving prospects and aid in the cultivation and stewardship of these donors.
  • Prepare documentation such as planned gift agreements, acknowledgment letters, and various reports.
  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of communications directed at planned giving donors, including scholarship award reports.
  • Help establish and implement protocols and processes related to planned giving.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities through CASE, including mentorship and networking.
  • Complete special projects and additional tasks as assigned.

Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Willingness to travel for training and professional development opportunities.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems or similar databases is preferred.
