Design & Construction Services' role is to support the University's strategic plan through the design and construction of new and renovated facilities. We are committed to innovation, quality, and value while being stewards of the University's valuable resources as we focus on the mission of UCI's brilliant future.
Uses contract administration skills and organization policies and procedures to draft and issue standard contracts related to construction including those for design and engineering services, other professional services, and construction contracts utilizing various delivery methods including design-bid-build, design-build, and job order.Works on contract administration problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. May require guidance regarding specific transactions, drafting of complex contract language and assistance in interpretation of contract language.
**Responsibilities**:
- Written, verbal and professional interpersonal communications skills; and ability to deal effectively with broad and diverse constituencies ensuring strong customer service orientation and skills. Required
- Knowledge of construction documents that include boiler plate (general conditions, exhibits, bid form, bidding procedures, advertisements, agreements, insurance requirements), specifications, and the list of drawings. Preferred
- Knowledge of Professional Service Agreements or industry equivalent. Preferred
- Working knowledge of internal departmental / unit operating policies, applicable state and federal regulations and general contract terms. Preferred
- Organizational, presentation and negotiation skills. Required
- Experience with contract administration in the public sector or related field Preferred
- Knowledge of the UC Facilities Manual and Campus Policies and Procedures Manual as it relates to contract documents/professional service agreements and the ability to implement any revisions Preferred
- Knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, goals, mission, rules, policies, guidelines, etc. Preferred
- Listening and political acumen skills. Required
- Skill and ability to effectively manage construction-related disagreements including but not limited to bid protests and change order requests. Preferred
- Working knowledge and understanding of specific contracting assignments. Preferred
