The Wisconsin DNR is hiring an LTE (Limited Term Employee) - Facilites Management Specialist 1 at our offices in Fitchburg, WI.

This position will be assigned to shooting ranges within the south-central region. Normally scheduled workdays are Monday through Friday but will require regular weekend and evening work throughout the year.

**Position Summary**:
This position supports the Division of Public Safety and Resource Protection’s recreational safety programs and is responsible for assisting, implementing, and maintaining facilities and providing customer service at state-owned shooting ranges in the DNR’s southcentral region. This position works closely with the DNR Shooting Range Program Specialist to monitor compliance with range regulations and to ensure adequate services are available to the public and all visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience. A successful applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check.

60% Implement shooting range program policies, programs, procedures, and guidelines for the regional shooting ranges. Ensure that range safety guidelines are clearly communicated and followed and answer questions involving range activity to promote safe practices. Investigate and resolve complaints about range operations and the customer experience. Identify and promote recreational shooting opportunities and educational programs to encourage participation in hunting and shooting sports.

30% Perform general maintenance, upkeep, snow removal, target replacement on state-owned ranges. Conduct periodic physical inspections of the ranges and recruit, train, and manage volunteers to perform similar tasks. Perform target range inspections and submit reports on range activity and use to the shooting sports program.

10% Develop and implement annual budgets for the operation and management of the shooting ranges in the region and provide budget input for capital development projects. Schedule capital improvement projects performed by outside contractors and provide assistance in obtaining necessary permits, approvals and contracts.

**Salary Information**:
This position pays between $20.24 - $24.00 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 07-04. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

**Job Details**:
**Limited Term Employment**: This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. LTE positions do not automatically lead to permanent state employment or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employees; however, these positions do offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.

LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours per position within a twelve-month period.

**Residency Requirement**: In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

**Qualifications**:

- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a minimum of two years of licensed driving experience
- Have not had three (3) or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years
- Have no OWI/DUI violations within the past year

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- General knowledge of hunting and shooting sports to include working with partners, knowledge of the role of shooting sports in conservation of natural resources.
- General knowledge of firearms, ammunition and safety standards.
