**Sample Preparation Scientist (SPS)/Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)**

This entry-level position is for an on-site Sample Preparation Scientist in a clinical toxicology laboratory. The SPS is responsible for the preparation of urine and oral fluid samples for drug confirmation. The SPS is responsible for organizing and preparing samples for assay batch testing using robotic liquid handling instrumentation through dilution and/or extraction in over 30 unique assays. Position requires the preparation of some reagents used in dilution or SPE extraction. SPS is responsible for building and submitting batches across several LC-MS/MS instrumentation platforms,

**Full-time: Monday through Friday, every other Saturday 4 pm to 12 am.**

**Minimum Education/Experience**:Must meet or exceed the minimum education requirements below:

- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in **_Medical Laboratory Science_**

OR
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a **_chemical, physical, or biological science_** with a minimum of **_24 credits in Chemistry or Biology_** coursework

**Primary Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Prepares samples for analysis using complex instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers
- Basic LCMS instrument operations
- Maintain a testing workflow to ensure accurate and timely lab reporting.
- Documents all corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures using good documentation practices.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of all instrument logs
- Works to build knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of all laboratory instrumentation and maintenance and troubleshooting, including but not limited to robotic handling and LC-MS/MS.
- Assists in performing other duties in the laboratory, when needed.
- Assist in training of new employees
- Prepares solutions, reagents, standards, and controls in accordance with the laboratory’s documented standard operating procedures.
