Chicago, United States Chicago Theological Seminary Full time

Description: The Grant Program Coordinator is a flexible 20-hour-a week, five-year, part-time position that can be fully remote with occasional travel to Texas or other locations determined necessary for grant programs. The coordinator will report to the Director of the Doctor of Ministry in Public Ministry Program and oversee the grant management of the Building New Tables: Queering Womanist/Feminist Preaching grant, which is a partnership with Chicago Theological Seminary, The Gathering, a Womanist Church in Dallas and Nevertheless, She Preached. Individuals who are queer, trans, non-binary, Black, Indigenous, people of color, disabled, immigrants, or anyone who has experienced systemic oppression or gender-based discrimination are encouraged to apply. Building New Tables: Queering Womanist/Feminist Preaching is a fully-funded, 5-year initiative that provides multiple pathways for training in dialogical preaching based on womanist, feminist and queer wisdom, led by a collaboration between Chicago Theological Seminary; The Gathering: A Womanist Church of the Christian Church; and Nevertheless She Preached. With a grant from the Lilly Endowment, the Collaborative will design unique cohort learning experiences, introduce dialogical preaching courses into seminary education, and launch a residency program. Together, the Collaborative will articulate models for compelling preaching that counter the inadequacies and limitations of traditional proclamation while supporting and encouraging the creative hearts and minds of womanists, feminists and queer preaching who are already thinking and working outside the box. Building New Tables will revolutionize the homiletic form by making the preparation and delivery of sermons more dialogical and less hierarchical. It will empower current and aspiring preachers, especially marginalized individuals, with unique opportunities to embody gospel proclamation innovatively in their local contexts.
