**SUMMARY**

Responsible for quality processes oversight at Polyethylene laboratories to ensure that timely and accurate data and documentation are provided to customers. Diagnoses and resolves quality issues through data analysis and in collaboration with lab personnel and other departments.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Coordinate release of shipment for Polyethylene finished product, as assigned, i.e. works with Operations, Production Planning, TS&D, PD&S and Sales to determine disposition of product, e.g. ship as-is, rework, regrade, or seek customer concession.
- Utilize job knowledge, through analysis and interpretation of data and/or other information, by making recommendations to various levels within the organization, i.e. recommendations such as suitable disposition of product, process or product improvements, etc.
- Have a working knowledge of the use and purpose of the various raw materials used in Polyethylene finished products. Maintains records of approval for new raw materials or new raw material suppliers.
- Creates, revises or deletes specifications (production, shipping, and customer specific), as assigned, after coordination of Westlake approval process.
- Issue and maintain documents and records, including approvals and approval dates, for production, shipping, and customer specific specifications, Finished Product Specifications for new, revised or experimental formulas, and sampling plans for products, as assigned.
- Understand how the various formula documents (Manufacturing Specifications, Finished Product Specifications, etc.) are related and, when multiple documents are affected in any way, understand the need for coordination of review and, potentially, approval of revisions.
- Have a working knowledge of site and department specific procedures regarding document control, quality records, product identification and traceability, inspection and testing, measuring, and test equipment, inspection and test status, control of nonconforming product, corrective and preventive action.
- Have a working knowledge of Polyethylene product and batch nomenclature.
- Perform transactions related to Quality Assurance Specialist job functions in the current version of Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), and LIMS tasks.
- Perform other LIMS tasks in support of LIMS Master Data Coordinator.
- Support QA/QC QualTrend SME with QualTrend functionality and report building.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, including communicating effectively, when interacting with internal and external customers (internal and external to Westlake), e.g. team-mindedness, enthusiasm, and positive attitude, in order to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Participate as an internal quality (ISO) auditor.

**ADDITIONAL DUTIES**

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
- B.S. degree in Chemistry or related discipline or 8 years’ Quality Management experience in a chemical plant or refinery.
- Basic understanding of concepts of Quality Management and ISO policies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10

pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
