**Purpose**:
This position is a member of the College of Engineering's communications staff and is assigned to the Office of Alumni and Donor Relations. The position is responsible for the preparation of alumni-and-donor-related communications; developing and implementing donor stewardship strategies and recognition; and supporting the coordination of alumni-and-donor-related events for the college. This position plays a crucial role in fostering positive relationships with alumni and donors, ultimately contributing to the overall success of fundraising efforts and the enhancement of the organization's reputation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Communications:

- Write and articles for the website announcing new donor gifts
- Write social media posts and promotional materials in collaboration with Engineering Communications
- Promote alumni and donor engagement initiatives
- Maintain content for development and related web pages
- Stewardship:

- Distribute recognition pieces, thank-you notes, acknowledgments and annual reports from student recipients to donors of the College of Engineering in collaboration with the Engineering Development Office
- Assist with high-profile donor recognition events in collaboration with the special events team
- Assist with updates to the donor database
- Donor Correspondence:

- Maintain donor relationships and promote interest in supporting the College of Engineering
- Foster ongoing communications (correspondence, newsletters, proposals, informational and promotional materials, gift announcements, etc.)
- Provide excellent customer service by displaying a positive and respectful demeanor and responding to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner
- Alumni Engagement:

- Assist with planning alumni events, reunions, and networking opportunities
- Serve as an ambassador for the College of Engineering
- Advisory Council:

- Assist with logístical plans and coordination of vendors for the college-level semi-annual advisory council meetings
- Special Programs and Services:

- Assist with planned programs and services, such as the Engineering Walk Brick Campaign and annual fundraising initiatives such as Giving Tuesday
- Other duties as assigned

**What we need**:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- No experience.

**What is helpful**:

- Seeking strong writing and editing skills as well as a solid understanding of communication theory, strategy and storytelling.
- Experience in alumni relations, donor stewardship, or fundraising

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Good organization and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Enthusiasm for the organization's mission and goals
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with a set of guidelines
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
- Familiarity with social media platforms and online engagement strategies
- Basic graphic design and content creation skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Knowledge of best practices in alumni and donor relations in the nonprofit sector
