Boston, United States UMass Boston Full time

Urban Scholars serves academically striving Boston Public School students in grades 9-12. Most of our participants come from low-income backgrounds and/or are the first generation in their family to pursue higher education. We aim to prepare our scholars for college admission and to equip them with the skills necessary to succeed at the collegiate level.

The Urban Scholars community believes that education is at the core of a successful, enriching life. We offer academically striving students a comfortable environment promoting experiential learning and educational exploration. To create excitement and life-long interest in learning, our courses are hands-on and engaging while maintaining the rigor and skill-building necessary of a college-preparation program. We seek to fascinate, puzzle, challenge, and support our students to take risks, collaborate, and problem-solve in meaningful ways that preview college and career work.
