Mental Health Worker

_**Sylmar Health and Rehabilitation Center is a locked psychiatric facility. We are currently seeking Mental Health Workers/Counselors for our residential mental health treatment program for men and women. Pay starting at $20/hr.**_

**Job Summary**: As a Mental Health Worker/Counselor your duties will range from facilitating group counseling, completing documentation, assisting and encouraging residents’ participation in daily activities and monitoring resident safety.

**Responsibilities**:

- Act as a group leader for an assigned caseload.
- Conduct group therapy and individual counseling as needed.
- Complete all required paperwork (_weekly, monthly reports, etc._).
- Manage the daily activities of the residents.
- Attendance at all mandatory staff and in-service meetings.
- Performance of all assigned daily duties.
- Monitoring Resident safety.
- Crisis intervention and management.
- Performance of all other duties requested by supervisor.

**Qualifications / Essential Skills**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Good time management skills
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Dependable and Good work ethics.
- Ability to interact with residents in the milieu and model appropriate social and professional behavior.
- Experience in mental health and substance abuse populations preferred but not required.
- Ability to work with patients in a manner that is productive and coincides with patient treatment goals.

**Education**
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Bachelors preferred, but not required

**Schedule**
- 8am-4pm (7.5 hour shift)
- Set Schedule of 5 days a week (Sunday
- Monday off).
