**The Role**

The primary focus areas will be Planning and Production Control for the Newport News Shipbuilding Submarine Program Field Office, department X83, located onsite at Electric Boat's (EB) Manufacturing Facility in North Kingstown, RI. This position coordinates material and planning management efforts for Virginia Class Submarines across multiple disciplines, (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, and Piping) as needed for transfer of major components and material. This position will also learn the module shipment process between EB and NNS and support X83 functions within this process and will be required to work closely with the Construction Project and the Shipboard Trades

Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

**Must Have**

Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

**Nice to Have**
- Efficient in utilizing Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations, production and shop processes, ship systems, network scheduling principles, and planning methods
- Strong communication and teamwork skills Exposure to network scheduling techniques is highly preferred.
