Associate Claims Specialist

This position will be responsible for the investigation and resolution of lower complexity and lower exposure claims. Under general supervision, this position will be able to manage a full claim workload with limited oversight and will be responsible for making sound decisions within delegated authority. Adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations in states where applicable. Minimal travel required.
o Handle minor non-litigated bodily injury claims with anticipated value of $25,000 or less in all jurisdictions;
o This position will be responsible for handling minor product liability matters and construction defect claims.
o Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
o Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions
o Ability to draft coverage position letters;
o Identify losses which should be reported to SIU.
o Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages
o Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of insured's exposure
o Sets reserves within authority or makes recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager
o Negotiates and settles claims within authority of up to $50,000
o Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information
o Participates in special projects or assists other team members as requested
o Provides excellent and professional customer service to insureds while maintaining a high level of production.
o Ability to serve as a mentor to entry level associates;
o As necessary will attend local mediations.
