**Responsibilities**
- Use standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures, keep accurate continuous record of the cash and financial position of the school and manage the financial operation of the school utilizing Blackbaud NXT.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for the Head of School & the Board and a monthly report of expenditures for use of each budget center within the school.
- Establish a plan/schedule for the preparation of the annual operating budget and capital expenditures budget.
- Prepare reports as needed for the annual audit of the school's financial records & positions.
- Maintain appropriate levels of insurance.
- Perform, assign, and audit the work of the accounting staff, maintain records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Responsible for all basic accounting procedures; financial statement preparation, month-end closing; journal entries and general ledger maintenance, fixed assets, and budget analysis; prepare supporting schedules for financial statements preparation.
- Oversee Human Resources department including policies, benefits and payroll.
- Provide staff support, in conjunction with the Head of the school, to the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, work with a team (strong interpersonal skills), and be able to solve problems without sacrificing relationships.
- Ability relate to and work collaboratively with constituents, leadership teams, and stakeholders.
- Proven experience as a Director of Finance or similar role, experience in a school setting preferred.
**Education and Experience**
- Bachelors in Accounting (or similar discipline); Masters preferred.
- 5 years experience in a similar role; education experience preferred.
