**About Lost Our Home Pet Rescue**:
Lost Our Home Pet Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill pet shelter whose mission is to help pets and pet parents in crisis. Many of our programs are linked to the human-animal bond and extend beyond the pets to include the pet parents. Our programs are (1) Rescue & Adoption, (2) 90-day Temporary Care, (3) a Pet Food Bank, and (4) a partnership with a Domestic Violence Pet Companion Shelter.

Located in Tempe, Arizona, our beautiful shelter houses 80 pets (approximately 40 dogs and 40 cats). Our pets are well cared for in a "home-like" environment. You must love animals to work here.

**Overview**:
The Adoptions Specialists are the voices of Lost Our Home Pet Rescue and are the stars of the show when it comes to customer service. These friendly and self-motivated individuals are responsible for greeting all guests and volunteers with a welcoming smile and great service. The Adoption Specialists assist the public in the matchmaking adoption process in a compassionate and empathetic manner, consistently providing excellent customer service experiences. The Adoptions Specialists educate and advocate for the Lost Our Home mission of helping people and saving pets. This position reports to the Pet Adoptions Manager.

**Essential Duties and Primary Job Functions**:

- Provide quality service to all patrons in a courteous, compassionate, and professional manner striving to consistently provide an excellent experience
- Complete matchmaking services and counseling by developing professional relationships with customers that allow for education and communication
- Make appropriate recommendations on retail products to adopters to help ensure they are well-prepared for their journey as a pet-parent
- Ensure paperwork and data entry is completed accurately and legibly
- Keep necessary forms and supplies adequately stocked
- Maintain cleanliness of both the lobby and office areas
- Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with other team members and with volunteers
- Support the LOH mission by providing donation opportunities to every guest
- Makes rounds on animals in our care in order to maintain up-to-date animal knowledge, animal files, cage cards, descriptions, animal cleanliness, building cleanliness, etc. Report any signs of malaise or illness to appropriate supervisor as time permits
- Work with the Behavior Team on different programs such as kennel stress, behavior modification, play groups, etc. Report any signs of stress or behavior issues to the appropriate supervisor as time permits
- Willingly perform other job-related duties as opportunities occur

**Proficiencies**:

- Excellent people skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
- 2 years of full-time customer-service experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including clarity, sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, focus, and follow through while working in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient on a computer, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Affection for animals, concern for their welfare, and a willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace
- Reliability, maturity, good judgment, and a professional personal appearance
- Comfort and ability to work with animals of unknown disposition and those who may exhibit medical and other problems
- Knowledge of animal behavior and common medical conditions a plus
