**About the Role**

As the **Director, Institutional Relations,** you are responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Americans for the Arts’ institutional and corporate giving programs. Expanding existing relationships with foundation and government funders while growing your portfolio through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new foundation, government, and corporate prospects. You work collaboratively with staff across programming to identify opportunities for funding.

In collaboration with the Relationship Development group, your effort will help increase our annual philanthropic support to $6M.

**Your key responsibilities are**:

- Identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting new foundation, government, and corporate prospects while overseeing the stewardship of existing donors. Developing, implementing, and maintaining a clear moves management system for foundation and government funders updating it annually with strategies to secure and/or increase sponsorships and grants, utilizing personal visits, meetings, proposals, etc.
- Managing administration of current grants, including tracking proposal submission, and reporting deadlines, updating internal financial tracking and audit reporting systems, collecting information from program staff, working with the finance department on grant expense reconciliation and reporting, and maintaining hard and electronic files for funders.
- Drafting letters of inquiry, grant proposals, concept papers, interim and final reports, and cases of support; prepare local, state, and federal government grant requests and responses to RFPs. Collaborating closely with finance and program colleagues to accurately prepare these materials.
- Projecting foundation, government, and corporate income providing updates quarterly and as needed. Join Resource Development committee calls as needed.
- Keeping abreast of foundation and government giving trends and best practices and new strategies for proposal development and grant management through webinars and continuous learning opportunities.
- Assisting with organizational projects and events as needed. Other duties to be determined in partnership with SVP, Relationship Development.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of working experience, required.
- 8-10 years of experience with fundraising, preferably in grant writing and grant management with a focus in front line fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability to draft successful proposals and create strategies for funding from identification to solicitation and stewardship.

**Things to know about our work hours and in-office requirements**:

- We have a 7.50-hour day for a total of 37.50-hour work week. Our core business hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm ET, Monday through Friday.
- Our Hybrid Work Policy requires staff to work from the office at least one (1) day a week and for all employees to reside in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. Metro area.
- We encourage staff to work from the office more than one day a week. Your manager can request that you work from the office additional days as business needs necessitate.

**Compensation and benefits we offer**:

- The salary range for our director level positions is $85,000 to $100,000.
