**Job Summary**: The Accounts Receivable clerk supports the finance department in managing the cash receipts of properties within the Housing Authority of the City of Elizabeth’s (HACE) portfolio. This role involves maintaining and balancing HACE’s residents’ accounts, preparing end-of-the-month ledgers, and preparing journal entries regarding these accounts. The Accounts Receivable clerk will work closely with the property management staff, senior accountant, and the Director of Finance and administration.

**Responsibilities**:

- Record tenants’ rent and monitoring of tenant accounts receivables.
- Prepare daily deposits and reconcile deposits from the cash receipts journal.
- Responsible for reporting monthly accounts receivable data, monthly rent rolls, and tenant delinquency, which includes processing pay or vacancy and balance due reports.
- Responsible for archiving files and documents and staying up to date with the archiving pertaining to the Housing Authority.
- Process tenant move-ins, move-outs, and transfers.
- Responsible for reporting any inaccuracies of the accounting system or policies as necessary to the Director of Finance and Administration
- Prepares, processes, and mails documents such as bad debt letters, write-offs to turn into the Board, bank drafts, HUD reports, bank draft cash receipts, end-of-the-month ledgers, end-of-the-year closings, and refund checks.
- Researches and coordinates tenants’ accounts receivables (TARs) discrepancy corrections with property managers
- Enters all Public Housing bad debts into HUD’s required Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) system.
- Processes write-offs in the current operating software system;
- Responsible for assisting in the accounting department in the absence of other accounting department personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
- One to three years of accounting, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping experience
- Experience in residential real estate or public housing preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding key policies, procedures, functions, and staff in the Finance department.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with accounting software - Sage 50 and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
